On our way home from Mammoth, John and I took a pit stop in the City of Angeles, LA.
I'd been craving some KBBQ since I'd been back to the States because though Europe has some amazing food they don't do the Asian very well... LA has it's popular Korea Town with lots of all you can eat KBBQ places to choose from making it the perfect place satisfy my craving. After a hot potato conversation of where we should eat korean bbq, John remembered that he has cousins who work at a KBBQ joint, U2 KBBQ. YAY for family! I love korean side dishes and here I got to have a buffet of it, though I wish they had fish cakes but I'm not complaing. I was just happy to be eatting after our long drive. The thing with me and KBBQ, I just eat, I don't care what kind of meat you order I'll eat anything and I don't remember what I've tried... So never ask me what I want to order, just order whatever. Meat, on meat, on meat came to our table and after countless rounds of food, we were stuffed. But! We were in LA and there's always room for dessert.
For dessert, we got HoneyMee. I have been wanting to try this place forever! I've seen this place on my instagram and facebook feed countless of times and I HAD to try it while I was there. We both got the ice cream with honey on top, the only difference is I got the real honey comb in my cup. The honey is really good, it isn't too sweet. It's perfect! I want more thinking about...mmmm. The hype is justified in my opinion and has my food approval. Just a tip, it isn't a store just a small order here window and pick up window across from the Boiling Crab. It's smack dab in the middle.
Before heading back to San Diego we wanted to catch the sunset at the Griffith Obsertavtory. John hadn't been in ages and I always enjoy going to viewpoints. Like everywhere in LA, there were a lot of cars but we were lucky to get parking close to the top, near the observatory. We explored and learned about the planets, the moon and the sun. Sunset approached and we planted ourselves in viewing range of the signature LA sunset. The sun descended on the hills to the right of the observatory and like that the star disappeared and darkness filled the Los Angeles sky. We spent the rest of the night venturing through space on the lower floor of the observatory where we watched a short documentary on the history of the observatory. It educated us about who built the observatory, Griffth Griffth (Yes his first name is also his last name), why it was built, the changes it's gone through, etc. It was really cool to just see the evolution of this LA landmark.
The clock was striking late and we still had a two hour drive back to San Diego. Farewell Einstein, until next time LA.
