It's been exactly 2 months since I left LAX for Europe and 18 days since I've been back. Every day I've been reflecting on my experiences aboard, what I learned about from other cultures, but more importantly myself. The number one question I get from everyone back home is: Did you find yourself? I wouldn't say I learned more about myself in those 6 weeks than any other point in my life because I believe growth is a life learning experience, something you do everyday. But I do have to say, I learned a lot about responsibility and some of the things that make me happy. People know me as an extrovert, a bubbly personality who is outgoing and willing to go on an adventure at a moment's notice, but I realized how much I just like observing, being the wall flower. I loved just sitting on the side, drawing and watching people pass me by. I watched tourist, locals, homeless people, travelers, sales people, etc. go about their business for that day. Everybody spends their day differently and even if you spent an entire day with someone, you see, feel and think differently. I thanked God every day and I continue to thank Him for the moments in which I get to wake up and explore all His creation. That's probably the greatest lesson I learned from backpacking, to be thankful. I've woken up every day with an unexplainable positive energy that just embraces me with thoughts of how happy I am about my life. I still haven't found a full time job but I believe in God's timing.
Since I've been back I keep getting the question: What are you doing now? Well currently, I'm spending time in between Orange County and San Diego looking for a job. Orange County is my original home, but I can't help and feel that my time in San Diego isn't finished yet. I'm keeping my options open. Where ever God is calling me to be I will put my trust in Him because that's all you can really do, to have faith. (I didn't expect to talk about faith so much in this post, but I guess it's a natural subject for me when reflecting and thinking of the future). I've been hanging out with friends and family, catching up with everyone I temporarily left.
This will most definitely not be the only post about my Europe trip. I will be posting about my trip more in depth but I still have to compile all my pictures, videos and words first. It will take a while and will probably mix with my more current subject matters but can't do anything about it. Stay tuned!
