L'Atlier Cafe | Palm Springs, California

» L'Atelier Cafe «

Before starting our Desert X tour, John and I decided to grab a bit at L'Atelier Cafe, a french cafe. I found this gem on Yelp and it had 4.5 stars with almost 700 views, plus it had only one dollar sign.

L'Atelier Cafe is owned by an adorable french couple, Charlotte & Raphael Farsy. They traveled to Palm Springs for their honeymoon in March 2012 and fell in love. With Ralph being a pastry chef and their love of the desert oasis, they moved and opened L'Atelier Cafe. The Farsy's continue to bring their french cuisine to the travelers and locals of Palm Springs, always creating new and inspiring dishes.

Their food was bomb!!!

L'Atelier serves an array of breakfast dishes, croquet, hand crafted sandwiches and desserts.

La Gauffre du Bonheur // $11 // A great combination or sweet and savory. The waffle provides a sweet base, the peach gives a nice tart flavor, the jambon cru is the savory, salty component and the cheese gives the dish even more texture.

Normandie Sandwich with Chicken // $8.50 // The sandwich is served on a nice buttery baguette. The pear and brie is often used in dishes to create a match made in heaven of textures and taste. I'm always a fan of caramelized onions to add sweetness. I added chicken, $1 extra, to my sandwich for some protein.

Food & Drink | 50/50

» Service «

Their service was average. You're supposed to wait in the queue outside but everyone who wanted to eat in the cafe naturally went inside to be seated.

The owner did come by to check up on us. Service | 20/30

» Aesthetics & Atmosphere«

The decorations are a eclectic collection of signs and objects. No two tables have the same furniture. My favorite part of the atmosphere they create is the background French music they play. I don't imagine myself at the typical, classy french cafe but a chill, laid back cafe which works with the French theme in the California desert location. It's a very casual cafe.

Aesthetics & Atmosphere | 15/15

» Parking «

Downtown Palm Springs has lots of street parking as well as a parking structure. We didn't have any trouble finding parking.

Parking | 5/5

» Price «

The food is unique, tasty and reasonably price. The portions may be arguably too small but I was content after my sandwich.

Price | Worth It!

» Overall «

I enjoyed every bite at L'Atelier. Their dishes bring the creativity of French dishes, the mixing of textures and taste to create a complete bite. I hope they expand because there isn't much seating and many people who wanted to eat here ended up leaving since they saw the wait, even if it was just one party. There are a lot of other places around the area to grab a bite to eat.

Overall | 90/100
